Donate to the Shelter.
We are a 501(c)(3) Non-profit with all donations tax Deductible. We are funded by donations as well as grants from United Way of Walworth County, KeefeKares and Delavan United Church of Christ Benevolence Fund.
Do an In-House Fundraiser.
It can be as simple as “passing a hat” or asking on Sunday for contributions. We can assist with printed materials and/or speakers to support your Event.
Donate needed items.
Tracfone cellphones or minute cards, gift cards, bedding and pillows. Call Lynn Curtis at 262-725-2016 for more needs.
Become a host site.
This is our most urgent need. We currently have 9 host sites in Delavan, Elkhorn, Fontana, Lake Geneva, and Walworth and would welcome participation throughout Walworth County.
Volunteer at the Shelter.
Our Shelter relies on volunteers including those who: welcome and process the guests; provide and/or serve meals; stay overnight to provide coverage in case of an emergency; launder sheets and blankets; and transport guests to jobs or the next site. Each week the Shelter rotates to a different host site and they are responsible for volunteer staffing. If you would like to help, contact the coordinator at a site near you.
Respect the homeless as individuals of need.
Give them the same courtesy and respect accorded a friend. Treat them as you would want to be treated in similar circumstances.
Understand who the homeless are.
Help dispel the stereotypes, learn about the reasons for homelessness and how each situation is unique.
Respond with kindness.
We can make a difference in the lives of the homeless when we respond graciously rather than ignore or dismiss them. A kind word and a smile go a long way to witness God’s love.
